Scoring droughts costly to No. 10 Attica

CAYUGA — Class A No. 10 Attica scored a combined five points in the
first and third quarters while bowing out of the North Vermillion
Sectional with a 42-38 loss to Turkey Run on Tuesday.

Zach
Little had 11 points for the Red Ramblers, who finished 15-6 with their
second loss to the Warriors in two weeks. Jake Weaver and Josh Karr had
13 points apiece for Turkey Run (13-9), which faces Riverton Parke on
Friday.

Covington’s
stingy defense surrendered just five field goals, and Johnny Brazas
scored a game-high 12 points in the Trojans’ 34-20 victory over host
North Vermillion in the opener.

Covington (15-6) moves into Friday’s semifinals against Rockville, a team it defeated 57-48 on Jan. 15.

Zach Jumps had seven points for North Vermillion (9-12), which had one field goal in the second half after trailing 19-12.

WOLCOTT — Travis Winger’s 10 points helped advance the Cavaliers (11-10) to a Class A semifinal matchup with Pioneer.

Luke Pritchett had five of his nine points in the fourth quarter to help Tri-County hold on.

Alex Herd had 14 points and Trevor Hoover 12 for Caston, which finishes 4-17.

KNOX
— Kankakee Valley had no answer for 6-foot-10 Ben Davisson, who scored
26 points to lead Rensselaer to a 60-46 victory in this Class 3A
sectional opener.

The
Bombers (14-7) also had their outside game going as guards Jacob
Goodman and Jacob West added 18 and 11 points, respectively.

Next
up for Rensselaer is a rematch with Andrean (11-9), coached by former
Purdue guard Carson Cunningham. The Bombers lost 49-45 to the 59ers on
Jan. 9.
